Ask me about my new SSAATTBB w/soloists a cappella arrangement of Jamie Cullum's "Love is in the Picture" jimfarrellcares@gmail.com
My Arranging/Writing Story
I have always enjoyed arranging and writing for choirs. It began during my undergraduate studies at the University of Northern Colorado. I was the director of the University High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble at the time and I made a simple arrangement of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross' "Centerpiece". Over the last 38 years I have arranged a ton of songs for my ensembles and asked to write arrangements for a number of choral programs, including the Colorado All State Jazz Choir. As I earned my Master's Degree in Theory and Composition, where I also worked as a Jazz Studies Teaching Assistant, I began to compose my own pieces. My journey as a composer and arranger is one that continues to evolve and I am excited to have more time to write. Many directors have enjoyed my charts, continue to ask if I am still writing, and when I will have a website where they can purchase my charts. Well.......here it is.

What do you get when you purchase arrangements and compositions from me?
Having worked as a choir director at the high school and university levels I understand how your life works. You are looking for unique choral music that will be enjoyable to sing, be specific to the ensembles you conduct, is affordable, is well-written, is enjoyed by your audiences, and provides an achievable challenge for your choir. I will also provide rehearsal tracks when possible at a very affordable cost which will save you hours of work. I feel confident that my arrangements and compositions will work for you, because I have tested them all with my choirs.
Commissions
I am available to write arrangements or original works for your ensembles. My most recent commission was an arrangement for the University of Colorado - Boulder Vocal Jazz Ensemble. The price of a commission is negotiable. Knowing that budgets can vary widely at different schools I don't want to limit a program's ability to secure an arrangement or composition designed specifically for them due to budget limitations. I have written in a variety of choral styles, but the majority of my arrangements have been in the vocal jazz and pop genres.
